We collect IT equipment from offices, schools and homes across Sydney. Tips do not accept electronic waste as general rubbish, so it has to be separated out and taken to a recycling centre where the materials are recovered. That separation happens as part of every job, not as an extra.
Why IT Equipment Cannot Go In the Skip
This is the single most common misunderstanding about office clear-outs. Electronic equipment is not accepted as general waste at tips and transfer stations. It has to go to a facility set up to process it.
There are two reasons. Circuit boards, batteries and screens contain heavy metals and other substances that do not belong in landfill. And the same equipment contains genuinely valuable recoverable material — copper, aluminium, steel, gold in the board contacts, and glass — which is worth recovering rather than burying.
So when we clear an office, the IT gear comes out of the load and goes to a recycler. The rest of the clear-out goes where it normally would.

Data on the Equipment
Be clear about this before booking: we remove hardware, we do not wipe or destroy data. If your machines hold business or personal data, arrange data destruction before we collect — either through your IT provider, by having drives pulled and destroyed, or with a certified data destruction service.
Removing the drives yourself before collection is perfectly fine and does not affect the job. The remaining hardware is still recyclable without them.
For paper records rather than digital ones, we do offer secure document destruction, which is a different service with a different chain of custody.
Office Refreshes and Decommissions
Most of this work comes from businesses cycling equipment: a hardware refresh leaving a storeroom of old machines, an office move, a downsizing, or a tenancy decommissioning its comms room.
For a comms room, get your IT provider to decommission and disconnect before we arrive. We remove racks, servers and cabling once they are disconnected and no longer live.
