We remove fridges, freezers, bar fridges and chest freezers anywhere in Sydney, usually within a day or two. You do not need to move it, dismantle it or get it to the kerb — our crew takes it from the kitchen, garage or wherever it is standing. Old refrigerant has to be removed by a licensed process before the metal can be recycled, so a fridge never simply goes in a tip pile.
Why a Fridge Is Not Normal Rubbish
A fridge cannot be treated like other bulky waste, for two reasons.
The first is the refrigerant gas. Older units contain gases that must be extracted under a controlled process before the appliance can be scrapped. Councils and tips will not accept an un-degassed fridge as general waste, and dumping one is an offence.
The second is the door. An abandoned fridge with a working door seal is a genuine hazard to children, which is why removing the door before disposal is standard practice. When we take a fridge away, both issues are handled as part of the job.

Getting It Out of the House
Fridges are awkward rather than heavy, and the trouble is almost always the path out: a tight kitchen doorway, a turn at the bottom of a staircase, a unit on the third floor of a walk-up. Our crew carries appliances out by hand every day and brings trolleys and straps for exactly this.
You do not need to defrost it first, though emptying it helps. If the fridge has been off for a while and has water pooled inside, mention it when you book and we will bring towels.
Getting Rid of More Than the Fridge
Fridges often come out as part of something bigger — a kitchen renovation, an end of lease clean-out, a deceased estate. If there is other material going at the same time it costs less to take it in one load than to book two visits.
